Club History

Phoenix Rovers FC was formed in June of 2001 when a collective of friends decided that another club was needed for the Ballymun area to cater for the growing population in the region. Paul Lee, Colin Lee, Stuart Lee, Denis Delaney, Tommy McKevitt, David Phoenix and Rory O'Donnell were amongst the core group who helped make the dream fast become a reality. Upon formation, the club had it's home ground at Naul Park before eventually moving to its former base in Poppintree Park.

Rovers' first ever competitive game was versus Coultry Wanderers, a game in which five of the Lee brothers took part. The club had originally entered into the Amateur Football League (AFL) with moderate success, narrowly missing out on a cup final appearance.

The club always feel it imperative to give an honorable mention to Honorary President Mr Jack Lee, whose contribution both on and off the field was a catalyst in the club's survival. In recognition, the annual Player Of The Year also receives a perpetual shield in Lee's name.

The official website www.phoenixroversfc.com launched in Christmas 2007 which gave a brand new interactive dimension to the club, it supporters and players.

The club relocated to Lanesborough Park in Summer 2008 and now runs three teams; the traditional Saturday Team managed by O'Donnell, a Sunday team under the guardianship of Tony Fahey and a new O35's team managed by Paul Lee.
